First impressions of the HTC Dream G1

Written By Kaisar Woll on 2008/09/25 | Thursday, September 25, 2008

The HTC Dream G1 (the first Google Phone) was presented yesterday by the U.S. operator T-Mobile, and the first returns are published on the Web.

We can not say that the device is beautiful. It is not worthy of an iPhone, Touch HD or Samsung Omnia level design. But we will say it is probably not a major worry for a device-oriented "business", but it may be for a machine "consumer".

The keyboard is not perfect, I knew better at HTC (Tilt), but it remains usable. I thought the "chin (right side)" would hinder me for the capture, but I did not even feel. Web browsing is slower than on the iPhone and it goes for the camera. I regretted the absence of support MS Exchange is probably not what I will not buy the machine. The operating system is nice and fast enough, I did not notice latency.

The success of this platform will speed the development of future models and dynamism of the developer community. One might also ask, what will resemble the Androit Market and what are the applications that we will find?
